UK Military Court Service
Military Justice: Video Around the World
The U.K.'s Military Court Service is a civilian body that administers courts martial and other proceedings for army, air force and navy units around the world. Ethics and discipline loom large in the British armed forces, and violations of law are prosecuted to the fullest. The Military Court Service sees to that. It administers more than 600 criminal courts martial per year around the world. For the court service, it's important to keep all the proceedings moving ahead smartly. Wherever on earth a detainee is stationed, he or she must be brought before a civilian judge advocate for custody review within 48 hours of arrest. With the clock ticking and justice in the balance, the Military Court Service (MCS) increasingly relies on high-quality "virtual" courtrooms where far-flung defendants, judges, prosecutors and defending officers are brought together using TANDBERG video communication technology.

All of the provincial, county and city offices under the governor's authority are linked together – and to the rest of the world – by 29 TANDBERG video communication systems. This video network helps improve the job performance of some 2,000 public servants across Jeollabuk province and is hard evidence of the Governor's commitment to building an "electronic government."

Moscow City Government
TANDBERG Video Systems Help Government Officials in Moscow Run Their City
Moscow's long-time mayor, Yuri Luzhkov, has a vision of the future in which the Russian capital keeps expanding economically, politically and culturally. But running the city from day to day -- with its 10 million people across 1,000 square km of dynamic cityscape -- takes more than abstract vision. Mr. Luzhkov and other officials must see with their own eyes what's going on. One way they do this is to travel from place to place, meeting in person with fellow administrators and political leaders. But increasingly, they travel virtually. They meet the same people in the same places. But instead of plunging into traffic to reach destinations up to two hours away, they click the green button on a TANDBERG remote control. They communicate by video.

German Armed Forces

The German Armed Forces have been communicating by video for several years. Command officers use TANDBERG video systems to brief scattered military units as well as to direct field exercises and give orders during live missions. The Air Force in particular, or Luftwaffe, relies on TANDBERG's portable Tactical MXP video communication system. During an annual electronic-warfare exercise in the mountains a variety of TANDBERG video systems allow commanders, pilots and ground crews to evaluate field maneuvers immediately and consult one another on follow-up activities.

The City of Concord, North Carolina
TANDBERG Helps North Carolina Communities Boost Public Safety with Visual Communications
By mid-2001, officials in Concord, N.C., had developed a plan for training public safety employees, such as police and firefighters, through the use of video communications. The purpose of the plan was to prevent a situation in which key personnel were in training sessions away from their precincts when an emergency call came in. In order to mitigate lag time in emergency response, training would be hosted from a central location, and participants would join in remotely through videoconference facilities at or near their respective stations.

South West of England Regional Development Agency
"Video Meetings" Boost Regional Economy
Innovation, connectivity, new ideas...Certain words and phrases pop up repeatedly around the South West of England Regional Development Agency, whose mission is to stimulate the regional economy. The agency looks around the world at the most powerful forces driving growth, then urges businesses and public-sector organizations in the South West of England to help lead the way. The result has been a regional upswing in business and technology.

Given the role of connectivity in global economic growth, the agency is naturally a strong proponent of visual communications. It also practices what it preaches. It recently deployed an array of TANDBERG videoconferencing equipment across the region's seven counties to help its own 300 employees work more efficiently.

The use of videoconferencing is part of the larger NREach-out project, an IP network that will connect more than 100 of the Department's sites throughout Victoria."
